shinrin-yoku was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive medicine
shinrin-yoku means ‘taking in the forest atmosphere’
shinrin-yoku is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments
PRACTICE
a slow, purposeless nature walk of less than 2 kilometres with an average duration of 2 to 3 hours
focusses on sensory experiences, body sensations and interaction with the surroundings
activates the mind that comes to peace thus recovering the body
cultivates stillness, awareness and deepens the connection to the present moment
stimulates the imagination and creativity
disconnects from hectic life: unplug & reset
is beneficial in combination with yoga, tai chi, qigong, thermal springs or breathing exercises
